Typical SAS Business Intelligence duties and responsibilities include:
Job Description: Develops detailed
business requirements and carries out the project tasks required for the development,
design, testing, implementation, and continuing operation of automated departmental
systems. May assist less experienced analysts in completing tasks.
Responsibilities:
- Under minimal supervision, coordinates information systems changes and implementation
processes
- Analyzes requirements and specifications
- Produces project documentation including formal proposals and schedules, systems
requirement manuals and testing plans
- Translates end user computer requirements for use by the department
- Prioritizes assigned request enhancements and directs staff activities accordingly
- Coordinates changes in project priority level, reworking schedules as necessary
- Communicates system changes and processes to end users, documenting processes
- Trouble-shoots system failures and effectively resolves discrepancies
- Participates in identification, evaluation, and implementation of system recovery
solutions
- Provides off-shift support as necessary
- Communicates testing discrepancies to impacted areas and monitors resolution
Qualifications:
- Work with Actuarial, Underwriting, and Product teams to gather system requirements,
analyze and design, develop, unit test, and implement commercial line business products
within the new Small Commercial Business Platform. Act as a liaison to other
platform teams to ensure all potential areas of impact have been accounted for.
- Demonstrates advanced knowledge of application systems
analysis and of the systems
area supporting the business functions. Has an advanced knowledge of the systems
interfaces with the business operations work-flow, and a solid understanding of
the business. Proficient in the use of work station, LAN, and mainframe computer
applications. Where appropriate, maintains a thorough knowledge of business
trends.
- Effectively contributes to, and communicates with the immediate team, systems staff,
other business units, service offices, agents, and customers, through a collaborative
style. Demonstrates
ability to adjust priorities based on changing situations.

- Recognizes and analyzes problems of average complexity. Independently considers

- Designs and tests systems, and/or system changes to insure system efficiency, integrity,

units and resources. Has latitude for setting priorities and making decisions by
using the general guidelines established by management. Completes multiple
tasks in the time allocated to accomplish results Financial Awareness
- Designs and tests systems and/or system changes accurately to maintain and/or reduce
operating costs for the company. Analyzes business trends, when appropriate,
to enable the company to operate in a cost effective manner
